My two-headed seahorse identified

Two headed seahorseLast week I visited my local fish shop and was greeted by an amazing sight - A two-headed seahorse! I immediately placed a deposit on it and went home to prepare my aquarium for it’s arrival. The seahorse currently resides in my main aquarium but will be moved into a purpose built 150l aquarium when it has established.

It is a really interesting creature, which moves in an abnormal fashion by rotating forward to gain momentum. It is eating well and can compete well for food as it moves much faster then a normal seahorse.

The fish shop believed that the animal was a deformity of a known species but the fish has gained a lot of interest from the scientific community and researchers say that it is a species of its own and has been named Hippocampus aprilfoolio. It is believed to be the first two-headed seahorse known to science.
